UU Dome/Tampa. Sat Jan 20, 2007. 2 p.m. A FREE FOLK MUSIC MINI-FEST. Concerts in the UU Dome & Friends of Florida Folk are teaming up for this event. Friends of Florida Folk, Inc., a non-profit organization is celebrating its 25th year in '07. No charge but donations appreciated. Featured will be Art Crummer & Friends (acoustic blues); Dale Webber &Linda Fackeldey (old-time); Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen (folk); RayBelanger & Lloyd Goldstein (classical folk). Carroll Smith & Cindy Roy (folk). Also Mike Jurgensen, JackWilliams, Robin Leach and others will close out the mini-fest with a music tribute in memory of Steve Blackwell, a beloved Florida musician who died in '06. After the mini-fest portion of the day, there will be a circle acoustic jam. Listeners and participants welcome. ( FYI Prior to the mini-fest, beginning at 10 a.m., FOFF is having its annual membership business meeting and special guest speakers, including Elaine McGrath, who coordinates the Florida Folk Festival, and national touring artists Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen. At 1 p.m. there will be lunchtime pizza and birthday cake. Then at 2, the mini-fest portion of the day commences.All events are open to the public. ) Info: http://www.foff.org/ or Gloria.

He is the William Faulkner of songwriting." per Nanci Griffith. Our BillBlymiller is a huge fan. Me too. Plus I have a special place in my heart for him because when he was on Austin City Limits, he remarked how much he enjoYed performing at the Tampa UU Church concert series. That was a few years ago. UU DOME. Thurs Feb 8, 2007. 7:30 p.m. $15. JACK WILLIAMS with D.W. Gill Opening. Jack, a wonderful singer-songwriter/performer, not to mention Outstanding Guitarist, recently wowed the audience as the opener for a WMNF concert. Jack's music is an eclectic mix of folk and blues, with a dash of soul, jazz & rock 'n roll thrown in for good measure. D.W. Gill, who usually is found fronting electric bands, will expose his acoustic side and present a solo/acoustic/folk-blues opening set. UU DOME. Sun. Feb 18, 2007. LAUREN PELON PRESENTS "WOMEN IN MUSIC. SOMEONE WILL REMEMBER US." 4pm. $10. This program celebrates music from around the world written by or for women. Crossing the boundaries of time, distance and cultures, Loren sings songs and plays a *variety of ancient and modern instruments, some of which were traditionally played by women, others forbidden to women. (*approximately 25 instruments)
