A. CONCERTS IN THE UU DOME:

1. THE BETH MCKEE TRIO @ The UU Dome

Beth McKee

THE BETH MCKEE TRIO

WHEN: Sunday July 10, 2011;
TIME: Concert 3 pm. Doors 2:30 pm; COST: $10 advance. $15 door.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ej8yHSt92b0

Beth McKee, who moved to Orlando a dozen years ago, is a Mississippi native and former New Orleanian. She’s a piano player in the mold of Professor Longhair and a jook- joint trained blues belter. She also does a fine job of finding her way around an accordion. One can hear elements of cajun, rock, blues, soul, gospel and country in her music. Beth will be bringing her trio incarnation to the UU Dome concert; ie, Juan Perez and Dan Walters, both seasoned musicians in their own right, will be backing her up.

The Beth McKee Trio at the UU Dome promises to be a high energy, highly entertaining event. Don’t miss it.

2. CHARLIE MORRIS & FRIENDS @ THE UU DOME

WHO: Charlie Morris & Friends

WHEN: Sunday Sept 18, 2011; TIME: Concert 3 pm. Doors 2:30 pm; COST: $8 advance. $12 door.

http://bluespages.com/charliemorris/ http://www.myspace.com/charliegator

Charlie, who makes his home in St Pete, is a touring musician, including abroad. His music reflects his personality, ie; he’s a sweetheart of a guy – a caring individual with a great sense of humor. He’s also a very talented songwriter – singer - instrumentalist. When he’s not on tour, he performs locally - much to the delight of his local fans. His latest CD, The Forest, is being released in September. Thus, his Dome Concert will be a CD Release Party.

Per Bonds at Big Leather Couch: Mr. Morris has the sound that I love. He knows how to pick a guitar and make it sing. There is that down-home blues/rock and roll quality about his songs that makes my feet begin tapping as soon as he hits the first note. In concert, he and the band have that funky tightness that might remind you of bands like Little Feat.

Per Derral, KCHO, Reading CA: "This is a lot of fun!"

For sure – A LOT OF FUN - and great music - is what’s in store for us when Charlie Morris & Friends take the stage at the UU Dome.

1. Wed June 29, 2011. RONNY ELLIOTT, in a South Tampa house concert. Doors open: 7:30 pm. Concert: 8 pm . $10 - $20 suggested donation

Ronny has once again been invited to perform at the wonderful Woody Guthrie Free Folk Festival in Okemah, OK (Woody's birthplace). This is a free festival. The audience doesn't pay to attend. The musicians don't get paid to perform. They do it for the love of what Woody stood for and the honor of being invited to participate in the festival. This is a perfect festival for Ronny. Craig & I have attended the festival in the past and we’ve seen first hand just how much those folks in Okemah appreciate & love our Ronny & vice versa.

Lets get together & enjoy Ronny's great music & send Ronny to Okemah with some spending money in his pocket.

Muriel Anderson with the late great Les Paul
2011"Just one hell of a great player …a great personality and what I like is the touch that Muriel has on the guitar, the way she plays it like we all wish to play." …Les Paul
"Acoustic guitarist Muriel Anderson... has justifiably gained a reputation as one of the world's best, and most versatile, guitar instrumentalists." ...Chicago Tribune
"This woman, who I first thought was a little girl, walked to the front of the room, picked up a large guitar and sat down in a chair & commenced to play the most amazing guitar-music I've ever heard. I couldn't believe my eyes or ears."... Carl Wade upon attending Muriel's concert in Tampa (at the UU Dome) a few years ago.

Whether she's playing an unusual harp guitar, or a more common acoustic guitar; whether she's playing Chet Atkins-style or classical-style, or you name it-style, Muriel Anderson is an amazing guitarist. She can virtually transform a guitar into a lyrical choir, a marching band, a Japanese koto, or a Bluegrass band. She astounds audiences with her technique and endears them with her sense of humor. As one of the country’s foremost fingerstyle guitarists, she crosses the genres of folk, classical, jazz, bluegrass and international music. One of her many accomplishments is that she is the first woman to have won the National Fingerpicking Guitar Championship. Muriel Anderson is revered by guitarists and audiences worldwide. P.S. She’s also a fine singer-songwriter.

3. Wed Sept 7, 2011 SAM PACETTI @ STHC
7:30 doors. 8:00 concert. $15 – $20 suggested donation for Sam

http://www.sampacetti.com/
SAM PACETTI has achieved a dazzling command of the steel-string guitar. Not only does Sam play well - he sings well too. Plus he's also a songwriter and includes orginals in his music mix. A mesmerizing live performer, Sam
seamlessly melds head-spinning guitar pyrotechnics and raw emotion into one breathtaking package. Tradition and innovation neatly balance in Sam's music, the whole infused by a relentless intelligence. Martin Simpson and Merle Travis are touchstones, and while there are strong elements of the Leo Kottke/John Renbourn school of guitar wizardry throughout his work, there is a powerful raw emotionality evident as well - an earthy sensuality more reminiscent of a Greg Brown or a red-dirt blues master than of a musical academic.

KEN PERLMAN & ALAN JABBOUR

Old-Time Fiddling and Clawhammer Banjo Picking by Two of the Greats!

Alan and Ken have redefined that great American invention, the fiddle-banjo duet, and brought it to new heights of complexity. Alan’s powerful fiddling style, with its syncopated bowing patterns and lyrical texture, is offset perfectly by Ken’s inspired approach to clawhammer banjo, which explores chord inversions, harmony lines, voice leading, note-for-note playing, and counter-melody. Their performances testify to the grace, beauty, and power of Appalachian music.
